Setting Up the Development Environment\n\nNow that Python is installed, let’s configure the tools you’ll use day‑to‑day.\n\n## IDE / Code Editor\n- VS Code – Free, lightweight, and has a powerful Python extension.\n- PyCharm Community – Full‑featured IDE, great for larger projects.\n- Sublime Text, Atom, or vim are also viable choices.\n\n## Extension Essentials (VS Code)\n1. Open the Extensions view (Ctrl+Shift+X).\n2. Search for Python (by Microsoft) and install it.\n3. The extension gives you linting, debugging, IntelliSense, and Jupyter notebook support.\n\n## Package Management with pip\npip is Python’s package installer. After activating your virtual environment, you can install any third‑party library.\nbash\npip install requests\n\nYou can freeze exact versions for reproducibility:\nbash\npip freeze > requirements.txt\n\n\n## Quick sanity check\nCreate a file test_env.py with:\npython\nimport sys\nprint('Python executable:', sys.executable)\n\nRun python test_env.py – it should point to the interpreter inside your virtual environment.\n\nYou now have a fully‑functional development setup!\n
